IS NIGERIA A JOKE? By Thomas-Wilson Ikubese

Thomas-Wilson Ikubese

You collect money from Politicians to cast Your ballot.

You collect from right, left and cast Your vote for the highest bidder.

You look away from young, credible  candidates with visionary, developmental  ideologies and a break from the past because they have no money to share and cast Your vote for the Old Brigades who You know very well, have nothing new to offer.

You rain curses on them in Your closet and yet vote for them in the open after collecting peanuts, ignoring the better alternatives that starred You in the face!

Do they owe You any explanation when they get into office? Did they not get into office on the depth of their pocket and the benevolence of their politricks?

So, would they not recoup their "investment" and make profit from their "see and buy"?

Daily You cry that Nigeria is not working.

Daily our children die on the high seas and in the deserts, attempting to escape from a non-functional system.

Daily our people are slaughtered in their numbers in classical terrorist fashion, with no justice in sight.

And finally You have an opportunity to change the narrative, yet You chose to collect money and vote against Your conscience!

You chose to collect money and vote against the future of Your children.

Pls, stop shedding crocodile tears.

Stop complaining that Nigeria is a failed state.

You are a part of our problem!

The Politicians don't owe us performance or accountability because of You.

They know that all they need to stay in power is to pay You a token on election day and like a goat being led to the slaughter, You'll again cast Your ballot for them.

Truly, a people get the kind of leadership they deserve!

Nigeria will remain a joke, as long as people like You dominate our terrains.

Let no one tell me to pray for Nigeria no more. The answer to our prayers lies in Your hands.

Yet, each time You have an opportunity to cause an answer to our prayers, You collect money from our Tormentors and vote against the very prayers You make to the High Heavens.

I shall cease not to play my little role per time.

But whether my role will salvage our Nation, depends on how You play Your role, for a broom stick cannot sweep a dirty room clean.
