IS NIGERIA A JOKE? By Thomas-Wilson Ikubese

Image
Thomas-Wilson Ikubese You collect money from Politicians to cast Your ballot. You collect from right, left and cast Your vote for the highest bidder. You look away from young, credible  candidates with visionary, developmental  ideologies and a break from the past because they have no money to share and cast Your vote for the Old Brigades who You know very well, have nothing new to offer. You rain curses on them in Your closet and yet vote for them in the open after collecting peanuts, ignoring the better alternatives that starred You in the face! Do they owe You any explanation when they get into office? Did they not get into office on the depth of their pocket and the benevolence of their politricks? So, would they not recoup their "investment" and make profit from their "see and buy"? Daily You cry that Nigeria is not working. Daily our children die on the high seas and in the deserts, attempting to escape from a non-functional system. Dai

FG deploys 30,000 police troop to Ekiti for the coming July 14 Gubernatorial election. - Dailies.

If the state was viable, having an adequate security structure, why does it need 30,000 troops in special deployment for election day? It will not need 500 additional troop to keep itself alive for election, if it were viable. These deployments of troops "is" what bloat up the budget. During these times, the police who are deployed "smiles", and of course several Commissioners and IG's will smile during those times. I think they call that thing "security vote". Governors too smile, but at those times other civil servants (which are in the majority small) will be owed salaries. So our democratic process is militarized, that's the sole implication. When there are 30,000 armed men loyal to the FG, there can't be freedom of expression of those who have a mind against the FG, except the opponent is also able to match the FG's strength either in the number of people with the equal amount of will to see to it that the FG fails or in counte

I am not concerned for the President of Nigeria and how he repeatedly performs below par in everything.

Ayobami Ogedengbe What I am concerned with are the youths that retweet his words in the hope of probably communicating that their president makes sense this time. Even in the post, you will see what they are trying to make sense from and you will marvel at how the glaring ineptness even in the statement (which is usually a damage control) escapes them. It is the most discouraging plight for me in Nigeria. To see a Nigerian youth who claims to be intelligent praising President Buhari. It will show me the height of ineptness in their own life that they don't know what manner of sophistication is expected of a President. Even if you want to be wife to the Prince of Kent, if you're not born into a Royal family, you'll go through a process of training to ensure that you are equipped to exude royal ambience. Take the selection of Queen Esther under King Xerxes in ancient Babylonian empire. It was a One year training on conduct before the king - both beauty treatment

Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese is more than SEVEN years ahead of the present day National Assembly as far as knowledge, sophistication and direction in nation building is concerned.

Recently, the National Assembly puts its voice behind State Policing following the disgraceful mobile police protest against unfair treatment by the government of the day. An action that's arguably happening first time in the history of this country. You can read more on the pages of the Newspapers today. The Presidential aspirant under the Alliance for New Nigeria has written in his Prescription for Nigeria, which he sent to the past President in 2011, the need to implement the state policing policy and make it a working project. He wrote this alongside other suggestions in the brief document back then to give intelligence to the government on how to fix the country holistically. State Policing was just one of the suggestions. He also pushed the document to the National CONFAB in 2014, many resolutions were drawn from it at the conference but none has been implemented. In 2015, Dr. Thomas-Wilson also presented the document to President Buhari on his assumptio
