AAUA FEES HIKE: ANRP URGE ODSG TO BEAR THE SACRIFICE

PRESS RELEASE:

AAUA FEES HIKE.

ONDO STATE, April 11, 2018-Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party have been carefully observing the ongoing in Ondo State. It is saddening to witness the current standoff between the brave students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) and the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu-led State Government. It is even more saddening to know that the self-acclaimed political descendants of Chief Awolowo believe education has to be expensive, if it is to work in Ondo State. Quite unfortunate that education which have been the bedrock of national development in the South West is fast becoming the exclusive preserve of the rich.

Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) believes that the youths are the Nation’s greatest resources and any attempt to deny them of affordable education must be resisted by every peaceful means possible.

However, any government that sees education as too expensive to fund must be ready to massively increase its budget for security. This is indeed what we are witnessing today in the North Eastern part of the country.

Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) says ‘NO’ to the current outrageous fees put forward by the government and any form of increment on the AAUA fees.

We therefore urge Ondo State Government to brace up and bear the greater sacrifice to keep thousands of our youths in school. Government must ensure that the children of the minimum wage worker must be able to attain the same educational heights of the children of the highest wage worker. Government should cut down other excesses in government expenditure and pay the sacrifice that will produce more leaders rather than miscreants.
