Recognise When To Be Silent:
Aina Omowumi Adenodi

Silence is the lack or absence of audible sound, or complete stillness/muteness.

Silence is not always a sign of weakness, it is a sign and source of great strength.
There are times, circumstances and situations when words are just not necessary. In such cases, it is not because it is not important, or that you are a coward, it is not just the right time to speak.
Everyone must know when not to speak, and one of such times, is when you sense an argument or perhaps it has begun already and your words are referred to in a way that is totally different from what you actually meant, at that time, act wise and be quiet, because if you continue, it will only fuel the situation and make it even worse.

Never miss a good chance to shut up, because it is not necessary to respond to every word spoken to you (positive or negative).

Your silence serves as a weapon that guards you against trouble and wicked people, the Bible records this many times, that "Jesus answered them not a  word"

why?, because He knew when the Pharisees were out to ensnare him by His words. There are conversations that comes up just to ensnare you, your counterpart just wants you to speak so they will hold your words against you, and land you into what you have always stayed away from.
Note: You tend to regret your words, and not your silence, because words are likened to egg, once it is broken, cannot be put together in it shape anymore, that is why it is easier defending your silence, than your words.
Even a fool is thought to be wise when he is silent.
This is why quiet people are considered well - mannered compared to their to their talkative counterparts.
And this is why most times you cover up your ignorance with silence which gives you the opportunity to learn from others when you do.

An African adage says "Silence is the best response to a fool", most times it is right, but then a fool will not understand, but a wise man will definitely do, that is why it is advisable you don't waste your words around
people who deserves your silence, those who do not understand your silence, may never understand your words.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is "nothing at all".

Remember, it is easier defending your silence than defending your words".

There is always a right time to speak.
The more silent you are,the more you can hear and learn.

Know when to speak, and when not to speak, it saves you from unwanted trouble, it is a sign of your strength and maturity.
Silence is Holy, it can sometimes be the most eloquent reply.
Meaningful silence is better than meaningless words
